Each Creative Board in the HUE Collection is handcrafted in the United States in small batches using time-honored techniques and premium materials. This is a porcelain enamel on steel creative surface. The kiln-fused finish has real depth of color, a refined sheen, and strong resistance to staining and yellowing over time.
Production requires experienced hands and precise, labor-intensive steps. Artisans select and blend specialized materials to achieve luminous, accurate color. The steel is thoroughly cleaned and pre-treated before finely milled glass enamel is applied (as a powder or liquid). The piece is then fired in a kiln to permanently fuse the enamel to the metal and create a smooth, durable, pristine surface. Because of this, porcelain enameling is less common than lower-cost finishes like powder coating or liquid paint. We choose it for its longevity and beauty.
VIBRANT COLOR FASTNESS
Porcelain enamel is renowned for its durability and vibrant color fastness. During kiln firing, powdered glass is fused to steel at extremely high temperatures, creating a smooth, lustrous surface that is both enduring and radiant. This high-heat fusion locks in the enamel and deepens the pigments, resulting in rich, saturated colors that resist fading over time.
HUE Collection colors are derived from natural metal oxides, with the entire enameling process performed by hand in multiple stages. Our premium hues are produced in exclusive, limited runs, ensuring that each piece remains rare and distinct. For custom projects, we also offer bespoke color formulation to match your exact specifications.
DESIGNED TO LAST
Our porcelain enamel Creative Board surface unites design, form, and function. This centuries-old technique, with roots in ancient Egypt and refined across Europe, bonds finely milled glass colored with metal oxides to steel at high heat to create a smooth, lustrous surface built to endure for decades. Its exceptional hardness and abrasion resistance ensure lasting durability. You can still see porcelain enamel in everyday use in France, from classic bistro furniture to the ultramarine street signs of Paris made with vitreous enamel for long-term color and wear.
HYGIENIC & PRISTINE SURFACE
Our porcelain enamel surface is engineered for real life. Exceptionally smooth, non-porous, and easy to clean, it often requires nothing more than a soft cloth.
